    Closing Thoughts and Evaluations

    You will be able to:

    • Describe experiences of anxiety as depicted in a short film using emotion words and metaphor, interpret dance and connect movements to emotions

    • Practice breathing exercises designed to help relieve anxiety

    • Compare different ways in which anxiety can impact different people

    • Create interpretations and connections between the films and your own experiences, thoughts, and feelings

"Experiences of Anxiety" invites participants to consider what it can be like to experience symptoms of anxiety, through two experimental films. Students are invited to read and reflect on an overview, list of symptoms, and treatment information about Anxiety Disorders and then use that knowledge to help them understand the perspectives of the films' protagonists. They will first watch an experimental dance film on the internal experience and external display of Anxiety, and reflect on the elements of the film through reflection and discussion. They'll then be invited to practice a breathing exercise designed to help relieve anxiety. Then they will watch an experimental documentary that delves into one character's personal experience with anxiety and agoraphobia along with her family history and, again, reflect on what they've seen. The class ends with an opportunity to reflect on the personal impact the filmmaker's stories have on us.
