    Participants will be able to:

    • Interpret clinical information about Anxiety and Depression

    • Describe how characteristics of Anxiety and Depression as depicted in two films are integrated with other aspects of a character's humanity

    • Make interpretations about protagonists and connect films to clinical information we read

    • Identify concrete things we can do for ourselves if we ever experience symptoms of anxiety and/or depression

"Building Awareness About Anxiety and Depression" invites students to learn more about anxiety and depression through two short films that depict artistic interpretations of what it feels like to experience symptoms of these conditions. Students are invited to read and reflect on an overview, list of symptoms, and treatment information about both of these conditions, then use that knowledge to help them understand the perspectives of the films' protagonists. Following each film students will reflect on what they saw and connect it to the resource material. The class concludes with a chance to reflect on how we can take care of ourselves and an invitation to set an intentions to support ourselves.

Note: This class includes supplementary materials that can be completed at the start of class or assigned as homework. If assigned as homework, the class duration may be approximately 20 minutes shorter.
