"Escape Through Expression" features two short films whose protagonists use creativity as a healthy way to respond to their day-to-day reality. The first follows a young child who reframes her world as a fairy tale to make sense of her mother’s Alcohol Use Disorder. The second features a teenager who carves out a few stolen moments of creative freedom amid his demanding life and family obligations. Through structured prompts, participants will reflect on the benefits of self-expression. The session concludes with a Free Write, encouraging participants to explore how they can use their own creativity to support their well-being.
Note: This class has an optional Supplemental Resource that can allow for more time spent learning about Alcohol Use Disorder. Please plan to add at least 10 minutes to the class time if you plan to incorporate this Resource.
