How do AOM Classes relate to the Wellness Wheel?

    ~3m

The Wellness Wheel highlights key areas of wellbeing that contribute to a balanced and fulfilling life. Art Opening Minds Classes support these dimensions by helping Participants reflect, connect, and grow through the power of story and discussion.

How AOM Classes Support Each Dimension

    • Academic/Career Wellness - Some Classes explore stress, burnout, identity, and purpose in school and work settings—helping Participants find balance and meaning in their academic or professional lives.
    • Creative Wellness - Films often model creative expression as a tool for mental health—through art, writing, performance, or visual storytelling—sparking ideas for Participants’ own creative outlets.
    • Emotional Wellness - All Classes support emotional insight and regulation by helping Participants name feelings, build emotional vocabulary, and reflect on personal experiences.
    • Environmental Wellness - These Classes explore the emotional and mental health impacts of climate change. Participants reflect on eco-anxiety, grief, and resilience, and consider strategies for staying grounded while engaging with global challenges.
    • Financial Wellness - While not a primary focus, some films touch on economic stress, survival, or barriers to access—opening the door to thoughtful conversation about financial realities.
    • Intellectual Wellness - Critical thinking is built into every Class. Participants analyze films, make interpretations, and connect mental health topics to broader social and cultural questions.
    • Physical Wellness - These Classes explore the mind-body connection—how movement, sports, and bodily awareness can support mental health. Participants reflect on how their physical experiences influence emotional wellbeing and vice versa.
    • Social Wellness - Relationship themes are central to many Classes—exploring friendship, family, communication, boundaries, and belonging.
    • Spiritual Wellness - Some films and prompts invite reflection on meaning, identity, values, and inner strength—supporting Participants’ exploration of purpose and connection.
